Jim McSilver, has produced, directed and edited entertaining, compelling and informative fiction and non-fiction since 1990.
Jim recently completed editing and co-producing Blau Jeans, the hour-long documentary about the 60-year love affair with American Popular Culture in Berlin, Germany. He produced and edited the award-winning PBS documentary, The Split Horn: Life of A Hmong Shaman in America. He cut the investigative documentary, Drug Money for CNBC and the historical documentary, The Treaty of Versailles for Lucasfilm/Paramount. He was one of the editors on the theatrically released documentary, The Real Dirt on Farmer John, which won rave reviews and awards at festivals both domestically and internationally. Jim produced and directed documentaries about emerging trends in the nursing and healthcare fields for the University of Colorado and Lifetime Television. He has also edited for such Fortune-500 clients as Coca-Cola, Intel, Cisco, Genentech and Oracle.
Jim’s fiction film work includes writing, producing and directing the 23-minute short, Head to Head and co-editing and assistant directing the feature, The Essence of Irwin. He co-edited and production managed the Sundance/IFC feature, Life Tastes Good, line produced Chris Ereneta’s Seldom Dreaming and assistant directed Loren Marsh’s Mission. He has written three feature film screenplays, several short films and short stories. Jim holds a BS degree in Film and a certificate in Creative Writing for the Media Program from Northwestern University.
